Hyperliquid’s HIP-3 Upgrade Enables Permissionless Perpetual Futures Markets
Decentralized exchange Hyperliquid is set to launch its HIP-3 upgrade on October 13, a move that will democratize the creation of perpetual futures markets. For the first time, anyone can list new trading pairs without team approval, marking a significant step toward decentralization.
The upgrade requires builders to stake 500,000 HYPE tokens to deploy markets, with full control over leverage, risk parameters, and price feeds. HyperEVM integration allows for custom market rules and automated governance features, potentially unleashing a wave of exotic trading pairs.
Safety mechanisms including validator penalties and open interest limits aim to mitigate risks. While no immediate user impact is expected, the change could reshape liquidity dynamics across decentralized derivatives markets.
